SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A man allegedly opened indiscriminate fire inside his house, killing his father, stepmother and a teenage sister in the Makin tehsil of Upper South Waziristan district on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the Towda Cheena area.

Police officials said Shariata Bibi, wife of Noor Shah Jehan, 56, died on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Asma Bibi, 17, daughter of Shah Jehan, from his second marriage, was also fatally shot during the incident. Shah Jehan was himself critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

District police officer Arshad Khan confirmed the incident and identified the alleged assailant as Rehmanuddin, son of Shah Jehan.

He said that the accused managed to flee the scene immediately after the incident.

Police responded by sealing off the area and setting up checkpoints, while raids were being conducted at various possible hideouts to apprehend the suspect.

Initial information suggests that the accused was allegedly a drug addict. However, police said the exact motive behind the killings had not yet been established. A thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
