Another setback for Jones

LONDON, June 8: England fast bowler Simon Jones is expected to miss next winter's Ashes in Australia after undergoing surgery on his knee.

The 27-year-old Welshman was one of the driving forces behind England's Ashes victory last summer – when he was unavailable for only the final Test at The Oval – but he has played little cricket since then.

England and Wales Cricket Board chief medical officer Peter Gregory broke the bad news about Jones when the squad for the forthcoming series against Ireland and Sri Lanka was announced.—AFP
