LARKANA: Another woman injured in a gas cylinder explosion here in Luhar Colony the other day died at a Karachi hospital on Wednesday, mounting the death toll to three.

The cylinder blast within the limits of Haidri police station in Larkana already claimed the lives of a woman and child on the spot, leaving 18 others injured.

Four of the injured, including 52-year-old Sajida, were shifted in critical condition to the burns ward of a Karachi hospital for specialised treatment. She was referred to Karachi with third degree burns by the management of Trauma Centre on Tuesday. At present, 16 injured victims are undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center in Larkana and hospitals in Karachi.

The body of Sajida Jatoi, wife of Mukhtiar Ali Jatoi, was brought back to Luhar Colony by ambulance on Wednesday. After the funeral prayers, she was laid to rest at her ancestral graveyard.

Meanwhile, a condolence gathering for those died in the explosion —Yasmeen Mughiri, Sajida Jatoi and five-year-old child Ghulam Mustafa Mughiri — was held in Luhar Colony.

Relatives, local residents and people from various walks of life attended the gathering and offered their condolences to the bereaved families.

Chandka Medical College Teaching Hospital has no burns ward, though it’s a teaching health facility connected with a medical institution. It caters to the needs of not only Larkana division, but also many areas of Balochistan and the adjacent districts of Punjab.

The hospital was attached with Chandka Medical College in 1974 when the college was established.
