LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz says every department is bound to complete corruption inquiry against employees within three months.
Presiding over a Punjab cabinet meeting here on Monday, she emphasised “complete transparency” in all departments’ projects.
The meeting decided to build the second largest IT city of Punjab in Rawalpindi and also set a target of making 2,300 youth skilled professionals in a year.
The cabinet approved installation of ‘modern traffic lights’ and marking zebra crossings on every road for the safety of pedestrians.
A reward of Rs100,000 each was announced for traffic wardens enforcing traffic rules.
It also decided to establish the first independent examination authority to make the examination system transparent and in line with latest standards. It approved an increase in allowance for head teachers of government schools from Rs500 to Rs10,000.
The provincial cabinet set a target of exporting cattle by forming a livestock company. It approved filling of vacant posts in the Structure Planning Unit of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department. Approval was given for relaxation of restrictions on temporary recruitment in various medical institutions organised by the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department.
Approval was given for relaxation of restrictions on recruitment of vacant posts of forester, forest guard and driver in the forestry, wildlife & fisheries department.
The provincial cabinet approved relaxation of restrictions on recruitment of staff of the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training & Assessment Authority. Approval was given for relaxation of restrictions on recruitment in the Punjab Financial Advisory Services.
Approval was given for appointment of chairperson, secretaries and controller of the boards of intermediate and secondary education.
Approval was given for ad hoc recruitment of healthcare professionals in various institutions. Relaxation of restrictions for recruitment to clinical and non-clinical posts approved by the Board of Governors of new medical institutes in grade 05-15 (non-gazetted) in new institutions of specialized healthcare and medical education was approved.
The provincial cabinet approved construction and expansion of a 46km road up to Chichawatni, Kamalia, Pir Mahal, Shorkot Road.
Approval was given for converting 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital Murree into a general hospital. Approval was granted for the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology in Gujranwala and the CM Punjab Livestock E-Credit Scheme.
The meeting also approved amendments to the ordinance banning kite flying. The meeting approved payment honorarium for members of the Board of Governors of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha.
The provincial cabinet approved establishment of special courts under the Punjab Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 2025. The scope of the Defamation Tribunal established under the Punjab Defamation Tribunal Act, 2024 was approved.
A supplementary budget of Rs 484 million was approved for the Punjab Autism School and Resource Center. Establishment of an endowment fund for the Punjab Autism School and Resource Center, Lahore was approved.
The cabinet approved establishment of Wasas at all divisional headquarters. The Punjab Film Development Authority Act 2025 was approved.
Approval was given to include more persons in the Chief Minister’s Minority Card and provision of additional funds.
Establishment of a research committee was approved for the appointment of Vice Chancellors of the University of Veterinary and Animal Science, Lahore and Bahawalpur. Approval was given to link Punjab Health Facilities with Nadra and preparations for a pilot project.
The provincial cabinet approved to renew and issue Christian marriage licences, issue Hindu marriage licences and appoint a Hindu marriage registrar. Amendments to the laws/Act 1975 related to Waqf Property and Missing Persons were approved.
