RAWALPINDI, June 8: A body guard of a senior diplomat was allowed with his pistol inside the restricted ‘no arms’ Rawal Lounge at Islamabad International Airport on Thursday after intervention of an additional secretary, a source said.

The diplomat, who had come to see off a delegation, was stopped by the Airport Security Force staff when they spotted his guard carrying a pistol.

This annoyed the diplomat who protested and insisted that his guard should be allowed to enter Rawal Lounge, where arms are not allowed. The source said the diplomat created a scene and threatened to go back, if his guard was not allowed inside.

When contacted, an ASF official said after the intervention of an additional secretary who had also come to see off the same delegation, the guard was allowed to take his pistol inside the lounge, however an ASF commando was deployed with him. The source said that a report on the incident had been sent to the higher authorities, including the Foreign Office.

Our Staff Reporter from Islamabad Adds: The police found the body of man hanging with a tree on Thursday, police said. Some children spotted the body hanging, while playing near a graveyard at Shakrail, and informed the police, who shifted it to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
