NAWABSHAH, June 8: Family members of Haroon Jamali, the Manik Jamali village of Nawabshah taluka, observed a token hunger strike outside the local press club on Thursday against police and an influential landlord. They demanded release of Haroon Jamali from illegal detention of police.

Masood Jamali, along with brothers Dawood, Saleem, Naeem, Faheem and sisters and his mother, observed a token hunger strike against the Nawabshah police for keeping their father Haroon Jamali in illegal detention.

They said that their father had purchased 13 acres of land as a partner with the manager of Syed Amjad Shah, a landlord of the area, but the landlord got the land registered in the name of his manager.

They said that when their father went to police but when he did not get any response he filed a complaint in the court.

They said that some 15 days back, the landlord got their father arrested by taluka police. They said that they filed an application in the court but the police got the information and shifted their father to another place and his whereabouts were unknown.

They alleged that Syed Amjad Shah was forcing them to withdraw the case otherwise their father would not be recovered.

They demanded of police high-ups to provide them justice and recover their father.

FOUR FARMERS BOOKED: Irrigation officials filed FIRs on Thursday against four farmers on a charge of stealing water from Malwah branch.

A team of irrigation officials aided by Rangers personnel raided several watercourses on Malwah branch and found watercourses No 6L, 7L and 9L tampered with.

Later, they an registered an FIR at Qazi Ahmed police station against Mohammad Yousuf, Ismail, Mumtaz and Urs under section 61/62 of the Irrigation Act.
