Burnett crowned champion

KARACHI, June 7: Living upto his billing top seed Harrison Burnett clinched men's singles crown in Karachi regional badminton championship when he beat Waseem Ismail 2-1 in the final at National Sports Training and Coaching Centre (NSTCC) on Tuesday evening.

Burnett recovered after having lost the opening game to defeat Waseem 17-21, 21-18, 21-19. Waseem made a great start by putting his opponent under pressure with his attacking approach, smashing and placing.

However Burnett recovered to outclass his younger rival to take the title.

Anisur Rehman paired with Aqib Masood landed the doubles title when they overcame Khawaja Iqbal and Shakeel Hayat 21-16, 21-12.—APP
