JACOBABAD, June 7: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said the district administration has full control in Sui and Dera Bugti, adding that Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti had violated the agreement with the government.

Talking to journalists at the residence of provincial minister Mir Manzoor Khan Panhwar here on Wednesday, he said law-enforcement personnel had been deployed in the area to protect national installations. He denied that an army operation was being carried out in the region and said action was being taken only against saboteurs.

National Assembly Speaker Amir Hussain, MNA Nasrullah Dareshak, provincial minister Dr Sohrab Sarki, MPA Mir Nasir Khan Khoso, secretary for interior Syed Kamal Shah and Jacobabad District Nazim Begum Saeeda Soomro were also present.

Mr Sherpao said people expelled from Sui and Dera Bugti areas had been rehabilitated.

He said that under the agreement, Nawab Bugti had to remove his checkposts and blockade of Masoori Bugti and open highways but police personnel were abducted and national installations were targeted.

He said the government would resume talks with those who believed in solidarity of the country, adding that elements creating hindrance in the way of development of Balochistan were enemy of the people of the province.

Mr Sherpao said development schemes of Rs1.5 billion were underway in Balochistan.

He said many armed people of Nawab Bugti had surrendered and had assured the administration to live peacefully, hence no action would be taken against them.

Later, he left for Rojhan Jamali for condolence with Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on the demise of his cousin, Mir Abdul Ghaffar Khan Jamali.
