SUKKUR, June 7: Former federal minister and People’s Party leader Islamuddin Shaikh on Wednesday got back possession of the Kiran Sugar Mills, after fighting a seven-year legal battle.

In 1999, Islamuddin Shaikh was arrested and his property was seized for defaulting on bank loans.

Later, he moved the Supreme Court and after seven years’ legal war, the court announced the verdict in his favour.

RALLY: Some 100 activists of the Sindh Employees Alliance, Sukkur, took out a protest rally and staged a demonstration in front of the local press club on Wednesday.

Led by Abdul Ghani Kumbhar and Shafqat Hussain Jokhio, the rally started from the Government High School Minara Road and marching through the main roads reached the press club, where they staged a demonstration while chanting slogans against the government.

They were protesting against the proposed ban on teachers union and demanded implementation of 25 per cent son quota for the teachers, fixing of quota for the children of deceased teachers, and implementing charter of demand.
