KARACHI, June 7: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Wednesday ordered that no action be taken against the 803 villages of Karachi unless recommended by the Village Demolition Inquiry Committee.

The chief minister in this regard approved policy guidelines and ordered DCO Karachi in writing that if administration wanted to raze encroachments in the vicinity of the above-mentioned villages, it should contact the committee to mull over the issue and before taking any action, it should inform the committee or the provincial government.

Besides, the chief minister said, no anti-encroachment action could be taken against a Goth having 50 or more houses without informing the provincial government or the committee.

He, however, clarified that relevant agencies would continue to take action against the land mafia as per the policy and rules.—PPI
