KARACHI, June 7: The Supreme Council of All Karachi Transport Ittehad on Wednesday called off its strike continued for two consecutive days against the ban on goods vehicles movement on roads leading to industrial areas from 5am to 11pm and announced resuming all activities at Karachi port.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Council’s Chairman Madad Khan Niazi said that the decision had come after the city government accepting demands of transporters had lifted the ban and decided release of all arrested drivers who had violated the ban.

He said City Nazim Mustafa Kamal during negotiations with the transporters on Tuesday night accepted all their demands and now heavy vehicles would ply on city roads round-the-clock.—PPI
