Asif’s petition admitted

ISLAMABAD, June 6: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Tuesday admitted a petition of Asif Ali Zardari challenging the jurisdiction of accountability courts which issued warrants for his arrest and forfeiture of his properties.

Advocates Babar Awan, Abubakar Zardari and Arshad appeared before the court and questioned the authority of the accountability courts 2,3 and 4.

These courts had issued arrest warrants of Mr Zardari and ordered forfeiture of his properties because of his failure to appear before the ACs.

Counsels for the petitioner contented that the accountability courts had no powers to issue arrest warrants of any person and confiscate properties.
