KARACHI, June 6: Elected representatives of local bodies, including women must develop a more effective understanding of the Local Government Ordinance to discharge their duties in a more meaningful manner.

This was said by the Nazim of Shah Faisal Town, Muhammad Imran, while addressing a four-day training programme for women councillors organized by the Women Political School, said a statement on Tuesday.

He said that a comprehensive knowledge of the ordinance will enable local bodies’ representatives to work more effectively in their respective constituencies.

He was of the view that women councillors could also a play vital role in resolving problems faced by the public.

He said the ordinance gave comprehensive guidance regarding responsibilities of local government representatives.

He also called for devotion on the part of local government representatives for welfare of the masses.—APP
