HYDERABAD, June 5: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a walk to mark the World Environment Day here on Monday. The walk started from the Hyderabad Gymkhana and ended at the HCCI office.

HCCI president Azizuddin Arain, MPA Rehman Rajput and District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil led the walk.

Officials of the Environmental Protection Agency also participated in the walk.

MPA Rehman Rajput said that the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry would join hands with the district government to make the city free of pollution and ensure supply of clean water to people.

He said that a ban should be imposed on smoke-emitting vehicles and vehicles using pressure horns.

Azizuddin Arain sought cooperation of traders’ organisations and social welfare associations to assist the district government in eliminating environmental hazards.

Kanwar Naveed Jamil praised efforts of the chamber for creating awareness among people against pollution.

He said that the district government was not oblivious of pollution hazards and was taking all necessary steps to eliminate pollution from the district.

He said that to provide clean water to people, filter plants were being set up and the Sindh government had already launched plantation campaign.
