NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 5: Pakistan Muslim League-N chairman Raja Zafarul Haq has condemned the Balochistan operation and killing of innocent people in the NWFP.

Addressing a party workers’ convention on telephone here on Sunday night, he criticised the government and said President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s policies had resulted in increase in prices of essential items, shortage of water and lawlessness.

He said the charter of democracy was an important document for restoration of democracy in the country, adding that Nawaz Sharif would be with the nation before the forthcoming elections.

Sindh PML-N senior leader Zain Ansari said people were dissatisfied with the government and demanded that the army should hand over political power to peoples’ representatives and go back to barracks.

Sindh PML-N acting president Saleem Zia said the workers’ convention were being organised according to the decision of a central committee meeting held in London.

He asked the workers to prepare themselves for agitation against the government.

Saleem Zia criticised President Musharraf and claimed that he (Musharraf) had developed a personal clash with Nawaz Sharif for which he (general) had deprived people of an elected prime minister.

He demanded an independent Election Commission and caretaker government comprising those judges who had not taken oath under the PCO for coming elections.

He demanded that Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to come back.

Sindh PML-N president (women wing) Sorath Thebo said the people of Sindh would fight for the restoration of democracy.

She said General Ayub and General Yahya had broken the country into two pieces, General Zia established Kalashnikov culture and President Musharraf had lost the Afghan government’s sympathies.

Provincial PML-N general secretary Makhdoom Shahnawaz, Dr Syed Ali Haider Shah, Malik Naeem Awan, Afzal Gujjar, Abdul Hameed Khoso, Mohammad Zahid, Rafiq Butt, Sardar Rahim, Sardar Ghulam Shabbir Lakho and Manzoor Mughal spoke on the occasion.
