BAHAWALPUR, June 5: The Islamia University has decided to introduce semester system from next month. Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Belal A. Khan made an announcement to this effect at a consultative training programme on semester system held at old campus hall on Monday.

The VC said with the introduction of this system, the abilities of the teachers could be judged and there would be a visible change in the trends of students as well.

The VC, while responding to the HEC instructions, said it would be compulsory for the students registered for Ph.D programmes after May 2005 to qualify the GRE test. Earlier, Prof Sheharyar Malik and Prof Dr Aslam Adeeb emphasised the need and importance of semester system.
