PESHAWAR, June 4: The NWFP government has announced establishment of the Kaladhaka Development Authority and allocated Rs660 million for it. Provincial Senior Minister Sirajul Haq said the authority would start functioning from July 1 and its staff had been appointed.

According to a handout, he said at a function that the functions of the authority would be to construct 90km of metalled roads, 25km of shingle roads, water supply and irrigation schemes and improve the forestry sector.

He said the government would remove poverty and backwardness in the province, especially in remote mountainous areas.

He said formation of the authority would create job opportunities in the area.

APP adds: He said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would never betray people and it would ensure that there expectations were met.

He called upon people to shun their petty differences and tribal rivalries and promote Islamic brotherhood to ensure prosperity in their area.
