ISLAMABAD: Iranian Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s unwavering support during Israel’s aggression, describing Pakistan as a “true friend in need.”

Mr Qalibaf said that Pakistan’s sincere and timely stance was a testament to the depth of the two countries’ relationship.

He expressed these views during his meeting with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House after his arrival in the capital, says a press release here on Wednesday.

The Iranian speaker emphasised that parliamentary collaboration served as the cornerstone for bringing both the nations closer and underscored that Iran highly valued its relations with Pakistan. He also thanked Pakistan for supporting Iran at all international forums and reiterated Iran’s desire to enhance cooperation in all spheres.

Mr Sadiq on this congratulated the Iranian government and people for successfully repulsing Israel’s aggression and highlighted that the Parliament of Pakistan was the first to unequivocally condemn the Israeli attack on Iran.

He appreciated the Iranian Parliament for chanting slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and expressed gratitude to Iran for standing by Pakistan during times of Indian aggression.

He said Iran was a trusted brotherly neighbour and the growing parliamentary cooperation between the two nations would help open new avenues of mutual progress and regional peace. He reaffirmed that the people, Parliament and the Pakistan government stood shoulder to shoulder with Iran.

Both the sides agreed to continue joint efforts for peace, stability and prosperity in the region. The Iranian speaker also commended Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional harmony, while members of the Iranian delegation praised the active role of the Parliament of Pakistan in regional and global affairs.

Member National Assembly and Convener of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group Naveed Qamar was also present during the meeting.
