GUJRANWALA, June 2: The rape case of two sisters will be reinvestigated while police officials involved in it will be sent to jail if charges levelled against them are substantiated.
This was stated by DIG Zafer Abbas Lak while giving assurance to Human Rights Commission chairperson Asma Jehangir in his office who met him in connection with the rape case of two sisters ‘N’ and ‘S’ here on Friday.
The DIG did admit that there were some flaws in the probe report submitted by inquiry officer/Additional SP Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq. He said that he would himself conduct the inquiry.
Mr Lak also assured the HRCP chairperson that a dacoity case against two sisters and their brother would be discharged and a case would be registered against the IO instead if they were found innocent in the reinvestigation.
The DIG hinted that he would himself record the statement of two sisters in jail.
It was stated that Asma Jehangir also met the two sisters in jail besides their parents, the SP (headquarters) and DBA president Ilyas Rehan.
The bar president reportedly moved the bail application of both the sisters in the local court on Friday.
