GUJRANWALA, June 2: A man was killed and four others were hurt in a blast at a CNG filling station near Chungi Samanabad here on Friday evening.

Report said a cab (LPT-3833), carrying a marriage party, halted at the filling station owned by Mehr Usman. During filling, its cylinder exploded as a result of which Muhammad Arif, a movie maker, died on the spot.

CNG station employee Abu Bakar, Khalid Mahmood, Siddique and Rana Khalid suffered injuries and were were referred to Lahore hospitals.

Three other cars at the CNG station were damaged. The Aroop police have registered a case and are investigating.

DACOITS HELD: Villagers caught three dacoits after an encounter when they were fleeing after looting some passers-by in Alipur Chattha on Friday.

Two brothers, Fakhar and Qamar, were going on a motorcycle when three armed men intercepted them near Ramki Chattha village. The interceptors snatched cash and mobile phones from them and shot at Fakhar on resistance.

Later, they looted cash and mobile phones from four other passers-by.

On receiving information, the villagers chased the dacoits, but they opened fire on them. When retaliated, the dacoits jumped into the canal. However, the villagers caught them and handed them over to the police.

Alipur Chattha police have registered a case against the accused identified as Imran, Amanat and Amjad Masih.

TRANSFERRED: The DIG on Friday ordered transfer of 15 SHOs of the city division under police reforms, but the DPO reportedly had not signed the orders till the filing of this report in the evening.

DIG Zafar Abbas Lak transferred almost all SHOs of the city division and sent the file to DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq for implementing the transfer orders, but he reportedly did not sign the orders and kept the file with him for consideration.
