QUETTA: The Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) and the Nokkundi Traders Association (NTA) will work together to strengthen the local business capacity, create partnership opportunities, and enhance professional skills among merchants in the Chagai area of Balochistan, it was decided in a meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting held in Nokkundi was attended by Ryan Mitchell, general manager of the Reko Diq project, along with senior procurement officials and representatives of NTA.

The discussions focused on promoting local enterprise participation in the RDMC’s long-term development initiatives.

It was agreed during the meeting that the RDMC will organise training programmes for local traders covering areas such as international business standards, financial management, supply chain operations, and modern safety practices.

These initiatives are designed to equip local entrepreneurs with the skills needed to engage competitively in large-scale projects like Reko Diq.

“At Reko Diq, we believe that sustainable development begins with empowering local communities,” said Mr Mitchell.

“By providing training and opportunities for Nokkundi’s traders and suppliers, we are building the foundation for long-term economic growth that benefits the entire region.” The NTA welcomed RDMC’s initiative, noting that such collaboration will enhance local business capacity, improve competitiveness, and create new employment opportunities across Chagai.

“Our goal is to ensure that the people of Chagai are active participants and beneficiaries of the Reko Diq Project. Strong partnerships with local traders are key to achieving this shared vision,” said Juan Enslin, RDMC’s supply chain manager.
