Chinese doctor picked up

MIANWALI, June 1: The city police on Thursday morning picked up a visiting Chinese doctor from a local private hospital. Reports said Dr Muhammad Omar Wank, a Chinese acupuncture specialist who has been visiting the Obaid Noor Hospital from Islamabad every Thursday for the last one year, was examining patients at the hospital when a police party, led by city police station SHO Zulfiqar Cheena, inquired about him.

On confirmation of his presence, they hurried to the doctor’s office and dragged him out using abusive language which created panic at the hospital. As the hospital staff intervened and asked for the warrants, the SHO abused them saying “he needs nothing of the sort.”

According to eye-witnesses, the police bundled the doctor into their vehicle and disappeared leaving every one astonished.

The worried staff then rushed to the police station, but was surprised to know that the doctor was not present there. None of the officials on duty answered their queries.

Later, the hospital administration filed an application for registration of a case under section 452, 342, 365, 506, 148 and 149 of PPC against SHO Zulfiqar Cheena and his seven constables, besides the DPO office security inspector for kidnapping the Chinese doctor.

When contacted, DPO Zarrat Kiyani expressed his ignorance about the incident. Despite repeated attempts, the SHO could not be contacted.
