ISLAMABAD, May 29: Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) on Monday gave away cash awards of Rs3.8 million among the medal winners of 18th Commonwealth Games held at Melbourne in March this year. Pakistan captured one gold, three silvers and one bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.

The President of Pakistan Olympic Association, Lt. Gen. (r) Syed Arif Hasan, who is also the chief of PST, handed over the cheques to the players with the hope that they would earn more laurels for the country at this year's South Asian Games and Asian Games.

Weightlifter Shujauddin Malik, Pakistan's lone gold-medallist at the 18th Commonwealth Games, received Rs800,000 while the hockey team, which finished with silver medal, received Rs1.6 million.
