QUETTA, May 27: An under-trial prisoner was killed and two people, including a lawyer, were injured when two armed men opened fire in the premises of the sessions court here on Saturday.

According to reports, the police had brought Mohammad Imran from the district jail to the sessions court in connection with the hearing of a murder and dacoity case.

Two armed men, identified as Abdullah and Mohammad Akram, opened fire with automatic weapons, injuring the under-trial prisoner and two other persons, including a lawyer named Farooq Sarwar.

The injured people were taken to the Civil Hospital but Imran did not survive. The lawyer and a passer-by, Mohammad Hussain, were admitted to the hospital.

Both the accused were arrested by the police. Their weapons were seized.

“The murder was motivated by enmity,” the police said.

Imran was arrested last year on charges of killing the mother of one of the accused, Abdullah, during a dacoity in the Shahbaz town.
