KARACHI, May 27: Sunni Rehbar Council chief Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman has said that Saturday’s strike was not a political issue but purely a matter of religion and humanity.

He said peace and security was our top priority and giving exemplary punishment to hardened criminals was the responsibility of the government.

Mufti Muneeb, who expressed gratitude to all political, religious parties, traders and workers, educational institutions and all other sections of society for their cooperation in observing a peaceful successful strike, recalled that this strike was observed under compulsion because even after 47 days to the Nishtar Park tragedy, no concrete results were visible nor any concrete steps have been taken for the arrest of culprits of the blast.

He said the council would meet on Sunday to formulate its future strategy.—Staff Reporter
