KARACHI, May 26: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where four ships to load/offload containers, furnace oil, and chemicals were accommodated on berths at QICT, Fotco oil terminal and EVT, respectively, on Thursday.

Meanwhile two more ships carrying chemicals and sugar arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours. Berth occupancy remained at 78 per cent on Thursday as a total of eight ships occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, sugar, furnace oil, chemicals and iron ore, respectively, during the same period.

The port handled a cargo volume of 93,776 tons comprising 72,155 ton imports and 21,621 tons imports including containerised cargo carried in 1,626 Teus.

Two ships sailed to the sea during the last 24 hours. Another ship was due to sail on Friday.
