Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has emphasised the need for empowering and strengthening the local government system in order to effectively deal with disasters such as floods, Radio Pakistan reports.

Participating in the NA discussion on the ongoing floods, Kamal also called for the construction of dams to enhance water storage capacity.

JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri stressed the need for provision of timely relief to the flood-affected people.
