SAHIWAL, May 24: One of the two convicts in the case of attack on Gen Pervez Musharraf refused to file a mercy appeal to the president here on Wednesday.

The convicts, Rana Naweed and Amir Sohail, have been imprisoned in the central jail in a special cell.

Their mercy pleas were earlier rejected by the Supreme Court, and now they had the only option of filing appeals to the president.

Rana Naveed, through a written statement, has informed the central jail authorities that he will not file mercy appeal to President Gen Pervez Musharraf, saying that he believed life and death were decided by God.

However, the other convict, Amir Sohail, has asked the jail authorities to file his mercy appeal to the president.

WIRE THEFT: Unidentified persons cut and stole away the overhead electricity wire on Tuesday night, suspending power supply to three villages, Kot Dawa Mal, Kauray Shah Zareen and Thatha Purbana.

Despite passage of 24 hours, Mepco officials could not restore the electricity supply to the villages.

This is 19th wire theft incident in Noorshah area.
