Mandi Bahauddin Deputy Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem has highlighted that it was the first time in the district’s history that a protective dyke was breached.

“Area of 62 kilometres adjacent to the river was affected by the flood,” he said, according to a statement issued by his office.

DC Saleem added that over 100,000 people were impacted across 70 villages, with 3,233 moved to safer locations by rescue teams.

He noted that two people had died after drowning in the floods.
