PESHAWAR, May 22: Minister for Local Government Sardar Mohammad Idrees has directed that development funds should be equally distributed among union councils. Presiding over a meeting of the Provincial Local Government Commission held at the office of the secretary for local government here on Monday, the minister said no union council should be deprived of its share in funds on political basis.

He said all rules and regulations should be followed while preparing the budget and development programs.

The meeting reviewed matters regarding Tank, Batagram, Swat and Abbottabad districts and the Amangarh taluka municipal administration.

Noorul Qamar, Mansoor Tariq, Sardar Mohammad Anwar and Jalaluddin, members of the Local Government Commission, Tank District Nazim Riaz Khan Kundi, DCO Syed Mohsin Shah, Local Council Board secretary Rehmat Shah Ghazi, Local Government Commission deputy secretary Mansoor Khan and other officers of departments concerned attended the meeting.

The meeting directed the department concerned to ensure work was started on development projects in the Tank district after approval of tenders by the district council.

It also decided to issue warnings to the naib nazim and the secretary for the district council, Batagram, for violating rules.

The commission constituted a committee to look into complaints against the district nazim of Abbottabad.

Mr Idrees directed nazims and officials of departments concerned to prepare the forthcoming budget with mutual consultation and in a transparent manner.

He also directed to include members of both treasury and opposition benches in finalising development schemes.—PPI
