FAISALABAD, May 21: City District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef has ordered on Sunday suspension of Wasa managing director and four other officials for failing to provide clean water to the citizens.

As many as 11 people have so far died in the city allegedly due to consuming polluted water supplied by the agency.

Those who have been suspended from service are Wasa M D Ras Masood, director water resources Abdul Hameed, deputy directors Zafar Iqbal and Talaat Pervaiz and sub-engineer Muhammad Khan.

The nazim has also recommended disciplinary action against the suspended officials under the Removal from Service Ordinance.

He said the decision had been taken in the light of a report by a committee which had been constituted to look into the matter.
