DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police arrested an armed robber here on Thursday after an exchange of fire outside a private bank, officials said.

According to DPO Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, the operation was carried out under the supervision of City DSP Muhammad Adnan along with SHO City Taimur Khan Marwat and SHO Cantt Arslan Khan Gandapur.

Police said they received information about two armed men on a motorcycle allegedly planning a robbery near the bank. When a quick response team reached the spot, the suspects opened fire on police. In retaliatory fire, one suspect was injured and arrested, while the other escaped by taking advantage of traffic in the area.

The arrested suspect was identified as Zahid, son of Azizullah, a resident of Pai, Tank district. Police also recovered a pistol and ammunition from his possession.

DSP Adnan said the suspect was wanted in multiple cases, including a major robbery involving Rs10 million on July 14, 2025.
