Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani is heading to Egypt today for talks on a ceasefire deal for Gaza, sources have told Al Jazeera Arabic.

Egypt and Qatar have been mediating between Israel and Hamas in an attempt to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The latest round of indirect negotiations between the two sides, facilitated in Doha by mediators, lasted for several weeks before concluding on July 25 without any results.
