KARACHI, May 19: The man who was arrested on Thursday for kidnapping a lady doctor and having subjected her to criminal assault was on Friday remanded in police custody for further interrogation and investigation.

The three-day remand was given by Judicial Magistrate Khalil Hussain to North Nazimabad police.

The accused, Zakir, was arrested on the complaint of the lady doctor, who alleged that he, along with another person, had kidnapped her from near KDA Chowrangi, North Nazimabad, while she was returning home from a hospital in a rickshaw.

She claimed that she had been taken to a house in Sharifabad, Liaquatabad Town, where Zakir subjected her to criminal assault.

The magistrate ordered police to produce the suspect before him on May 22.
