KARACHI, May 19: The solitary Mohajir Qaumi Movement legislator in the Sindh Assembly, Younus Khan, has appealed to the chief justices the Supreme Court and the Sindh High Court to take suo motu notice of the ailment of his party’s chairman Afaq Ahmed, and order the government to shift him to the Aga Khan Hospital for proper treatment.

Talking to newsmen in the chamber of Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, the leader of the opposition, Mr Khan said that Afaq Ahmed’s condition was serious. “He is a heart patient and the high court has already issued directive for his treatment,” he added.

The MPA said that Afaq Ahmed had been taken to the cardiovascular hospital for a medical check-up on May 10 but was told that the equipment required was lying out of order. He, therefore, had been sent back to jail.

The MPA deplored that rumour about his party chief were being spread while he was undergoing medical check-ups, adding that same tactics had been resorted to in the cases of some other people who later died in custody.
