ISLAMABAD, May 18: A woman allegedly raped by a former naib nazim of Okara on Thursday said that her eldest sister was killed on May 13 for pursuing her case.

Speaking at a press conference here, MF, a resident of Dipalpur, Okara, alleged that the former district naib nazim of Okara, Syed Abbas Raza Rizvi, along with his cousin Wali Hyder Shah and an unknown person killed her sister SF on May 13 in revenge for pursuing her case.

She said that on the request of her sister, Punjab Minister for Law Muhammad Basharat Raja had deployed police at their house, however, police were withdrawn from their house five days before the murder of SF. MF alleged that the former naib nazim had developed illicit relation with her on the promise of marriage. However, when she gave birth to a baby-girl on March 26, 2005, Mr Rizvi refused to marry her.

She said that her sister brought the case to the office of District Police Officer, Okara, on March 26. However, he refused to register a case against the nazim.

However, SF submitted a writ petition to the district and sessions court on March 30, where an additional district and sessions judge ordered hearing into the case.

Her efforts forced Abbas Raza Rizvi to admit before a Panchayat (council of elders) that he had fathered the baby-girl. Mr Rizvi also admitted that he had given Rs410,000 to MF and agreed to provide her Rs5,000 monthly for care of the baby-girl. She said that Mr Rizvi had also promised to marry her and give Rs5 million in case of divorce.

However, after paying the money, Mr Rizvi ratted on all his commitments when one of his cousins took the affidavit from the head of panchayat, ex-chairman municipal committee Dipalpur, Haji Mian Mohammad Umer Bodah. SF brought her sister’s case to the LHC but could not get justice forcing her to move to the Supreme Court. The court directed the DPO, Okara, to conduct a DNA test of the baby-girl and the former naib nazim to ascertain the allegation against him. She said that the hospital told the court that the DNA test facility was not available at the hospital.
