KARACHI, May 18: A lady doctor was allegedly raped by a man after being kidnapped from North Nazimabad on Wednesday. On Thursday, the doctor with her husband came to the North Nazimabad police station to lodge an FIR (195/06 under sections 365/34 and under 16 zina).

Police said that according to the victim, Dr Saba Shaikh, wife of Dr Furrukh Shaikh, was returning home from work at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

When she reached near the KDA Chowrangi, North Nazimabad, a car intercepted the rickshaw she was traveling in and kidnapped her.

According to the statement given in the FIR, the victim was taken to the Sharifabad area where a man identified by Dr Saba as Zakir raped her and made a video of hers. Later, she was released by her captors, police said.

On Thursday she reported the matter to the police and police arrested Zakir in a raid.

A medical examination was also carried out early Thursday morning at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, police said.

ACCIDENT: An eight-year-old boy died in a road accident in Orangi Town on Thursday.

Police said Hammad was going with his uncle on a motorcycle when a speeding truck knocked them in Sector 13-J.

The boy died on the spot while his uncle, Khalid, suffered minor injuries. Police claimed to have arrested the truck driver identified as Khan Nawaz.

CLOSURE: Shops and other commercial activities were closed in certain parts of the city and tyres were burnt on roads on Thursday night to protest against the detentions of youths during the last few weeks.
