GWADAR: A Levies officer and his son were gunned down in the Panjgur area of Makran division on Monday, according to officials.

The Levies hawaldar and son were targeted when they were shopping in a market in Cheetkan area, a locality on the outskirts of Panjgur.

A senior police officer said the assailants, riding a motorbike, opened indiscriminate fire with automatic weapons.

Both persons succumbed to their wounds after being shot multiple times. The Levies officer was identified as Muhammad Asghar and his son, Hassan Jan.

Their bodies were handed over to the family after completing medico-legal formalities.

Police said the incident seemed like a targeted attack. The attackers make their good escape after firing.

Police have registered a case against unknown men and started an investigation. No one has accepted the responsibility for the killing.
