THE communities in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been expe-riencing significant security challenges. Many families have members serving in Pakistan’s security forces, and we have seen recurring reports of casualties among security personnel in this seemingly endless war. The situation has under-standably caused distress among the local residents, especially the families of those serving in security forces.

The persistent threat of terrorism over the last two decades has led to considerable public concern and a desire for enhanced security and stability across the province. The ongoing security situation in several regions, like Kurram and Waziristan, presents complex challenges.

Recent reports from the Kurram region have highlighted the impact of security steps on daily life, including implications for health and other essential services. Similarly, the security environment in North and South Waziristan continues to require attention.

There is a widespread consensus that comprehensive efforts are needed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both security forces and civilians, thereby strengthening public confidence in the state’s institutional capacity to maintain peace and order.
