ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s under-16 men’s volleyball team will each receive Rs600,000 rupees following their Asian Championship victory, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) announced on Sunday.

A PSB press release stated that under its updated 2024 Cash Award Policy, annual continental gold medallists in team events receive 30 per cent of the individual award value per player. For the 12-member squad, this totals Rs7.2 million.

The policy also allocates 50 per cent of the team award to the coaching staff, amounting to 1 million rupees for the coach. The total approved payout for players and coaching staff is 8.2 million rupees.

Pakistan won the continental trophy in Thailand, defeating Iran 3-2 in the final and remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.

A PSB spokesperson said the awards would be disbursed within days as part of the board’s initiative to “recognise and financially support sporting excellence across age groups.”

Payments require standard documentation and will go directly to players and coaches on the official tournament roster.
