SAHIWAL: Musa Maneka, the younger son of Khawar Maneka, former husband of Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, was arrested by police on charges of shooting his servant over a trifle at his residence in the Pir Ghani area of Pakpattan city.

The suspect got reportedly enraged at his servant, Ali Bahadur, for removing bedsheets from his room without his permission. Musa opened fire on the 18-year-old victim with a 30-bore pistol. A bullet hit Ali’s left knee and passed through his leg.

Musa threatened others with being shot if they tried to help the injured servant. A call was made to 15, prompting District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Iqbal Chadhar and a contingent from Saddar Police Station to rush to the site and intervene.

The DPO himself confronted the suspect and took him into custody. The pistol used in the incident was also seized.

Ali Bahadur, a resident of Chak Alam Hatayka, had been working at the Manekas’ house for the last two years.

Injured Ali Bahadur was transported to the District Headquarters Hospital, Pakpattan, by Rescue 1122.

A case was registered against Musa with Saddar Police Station on the complaint filed by Ali’s father Manzoor.

Detained Saddar Police Station, Musa is already a key suspect in the Rs113.1 million corruption case along with his father Khawar Maneka, and brother Ibrahim Maneka, who has been declared an absconder after fleeing to Spain.

The trio, along with Excise Inspector Allah Nawaz, Patwari Muhammad Ashraf and Auqaf Department Manager Shafqat, were named in a reference filed by the then deputy commissioner of Okara on Aug 23, 2023.
