Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has once again called for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, state media Radio Pakistan reports.

Speaking at the UN Security Council Briefing on the Humanitarian Situation in Gaza, he said that the international community must act without delay.

“A just and lasting peace in the Middle East requires the realisation of the two-state solution, with an independent and sovereign state of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital,” Ahmad was quoted as saying.

Separately, the UN Ambassador stated in a post on X, “The world cannot stand by as Gaza is starved and shattered … Behind each number is a life: a person with a story, a dream extinguished & a family torn apart.”
