KARACHI, May 15: Residents of Old Golimar in Site Town have expressed their resentment over the construction of an illegal commercial hydrant near the Rexer bus stop, which will create an acute water shortage problem in the locality.

In a communiqué to the city nazim, the General Secretary of the Baloch Rights Council Nisar Baloch and Nazim of UC-2, Old Golimar, Mohammad Akram, said the illegal hydrant would affect the water needs of many people, which could ultimately create a law and order situation.

They said the step had been taken by the hydrant mafia for their vested interests despite the fact that there was a ban on such hydrants by the city government and town administrations.

According to them, the matter had also been brought to the notice of the town’s naib nazim, who had promised to take action against illegal water connections within 24 hours but so far no there was no action.

They said an acute water shortage problem already existed in the locality and now, with the construction of a new commercial hyrant, the water situation would further aggravate because the hydrant would also affect the storage of underground water.

The UC nazim urged the city nazim to direct the concerned department to demolish the illegal hydrant.
