READ: Aid distribution may be a ‘sticking point’ in ceasefire talks

For some Israeli ministers, the observations that Hamas submitted might be problematic. This is being seen in Israeli reporting as well, says Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Amman, Jordan.

The key issue is that Hamas wants to ensure that aid is allowed in through international organisations and the Palestinian Red Crescent, and that aid distribution would resume in the hundreds of distribution points, rather than in the distribution centres for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation that have been termed as “death traps”.

This is problematic for the Israeli cabinet, which views controlling the aid as central to its agenda in Gaza.

Another issue is how a redeployment would happen and how many Palestinians would be released in exchange for those Israeli captives. However, the sticking point right now, at least at this stage, is the humanitarian aid situation and who will control it.
