GUJRANWALA, May 13: Half a dozen members of a family, including four children, suffered burns when their close relative poured acid on their faces over a dispute here on Saturday.

Reports said Shahnawaz, his wife Fauzia, children Mujeebur Rehman, 6, Malika, 4, Eaiman and infant Momin were in the compound of their house when Raheel Ahmad, the brother of the head of the family, came there and sprinkled acid on their faces.

They were taken to the DHQ hospital in critical condition.

The Sabzi Mandi police here started investigation.

SEWAGE: DCO Rao Manzar Hayat took serious notice of sewage problems in various parts of the city and directed the Water and Sanitation Agency authorities to revamp the system, besides draining out dirty water from the streets.

Reports said almost all the low-lying areas in the city have been flooded owing to choked gutters.

Dismissed: Board of Intermediate and Secondary School Education chairman Masoodul Haq during his surprise visit to a matriculation examination centre on Saturday sacked the superintendent and his deputy.

Reports said the board chairman visited the Government High School, Kharoota Sayyidain, where physics and Islamyiat examinations were being conducted. On finding the superintendent and his deputy negligent, he dismissed them.
