GILGIT: Two sisters lost their lives while trying to rescue one of the women’s daughter who had fallen into Kargah nullah.

Rescue 1122 stated that both sisters, residents of Baseen Gilgit, with their children had gone to Kargah stream to enjoy the fresh weather on Thursday evening.

One of the women who died was the mother of the girl, who slipped into the flowing water and drowned. According to eyewitnesses, in an effort to save the girl, her mother and aunt jumped into the stream. Sadly, both sisters drowned.

A nearby police officer managed to rescue the child and one of the women, both of whom were rushed to hospital but were declared dead.

The second woman was carried away by the current. Her body was later recovered from the opposite bank of the nullah.

Rescue 1122 handed over the bodies to the families of the deceased. They were laid to rest in their home village of Baseen Gilgit on Friday.
