PESHAWAR, May 12: Police have mounted a search for a man charged with killing his 40-year-old sister because she had married some 20 years ago a man rejected by her family.

On Wednesday, accused Sahib Jan allegedly entered Shamim’s home in Momin Town, shot her dead and then escaped.

The Chamkani police station registered an FIR under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The deceased was the mother of four children.

The complainant in the case is Sabir Khan, brother-in-law of the deceased. He said that Shamim had married his brother, Idrees Khan, despite strong opposition from her family.

“We have registered the case and are searching for the accused,” said an official of Chamkani police station. Although police had conducted raids at various spots it had not been able to track him down.

Meanwhile, in another honour-related double murder case, an accused was remanded into the custody of local police for two days by a local court.

The accused, Lal Gul, was arrested by officials of Mathra police station on Thursday. Gul is charged with killing his wife, Ms Roheeda, and another person named Feroz at his residence on Tuesday.
