QUETTA, May 12: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Mohammad Yousuf on Friday announced to pay Rs500,000 as compensation for families of the Anti-Terrorist Force personnel killed in landmine blasts on Thursday.

The chief minister visited Civil Hospital and inquired about the health of the ATF men. He said that the same amount would be given to the ATF men who lost their eyes in the blasts. Each of the injured ATF men would receive a compensation of Rs100,000.

The chief minister directed the provincial health authorities to shift all seriously injured ATF personnel to Karachi for specialised treatment. He said that the provincial government would bear expenses of their treatment.

The chief minister said that the government would take steps to eliminate terrorism.

Rueters adds: Police detained about 30 suspects in overnight raids after a series of blasts that killed six policemen, officials said.

“They have track records of involvement in such activities,” a police official said.
