Published May 12, 2006

VEHARI, May 11: The internet users of Vehari and adjoining areas have shown their dismay at the slow speed of connectivity. They criticised the ministry of Information Technology which claimed that it would bring revolution in the field of IT.

They pointed out that they could not get their computerised national identity cards even after two months because data could not be transferred from the Nadra office here because of slow internet speed. Banks transmit their data by hand and on-line banking system has failed because of the internet problems. Moreover, mobile phone companies were facing difficulties in activation of SIMs.

A group of internet users told Dawn that servers of internet service providers (ISP) were outdated and slow. The ISPs did not install new servers keeping in view increase in number of users.
