Russia would react “very negatively” if Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told Sky News.

Peskov said a regime change in Iran was “unacceptable” and the assassination of Khamenei would “open the Pandora’s box”.

Sky News termed the statements as “the Kremlin’s strongest comments yet regarding the Israel-Iran conflict, which has stoked fears in Moscow that it could be on the verge of losing its closest ally in the Middle East”.
